Blustery weather was no match for the force of nature that is Boris Johnson who blew in to Atherstone this morning to help boost local Conservatives in their Council election campaign. Town centre traffic literally ground to a halt as people stopped their cars to see the man who is arguably the most popular figure in British politics. Boris was accompanied on his whirlwind trip around the town centre by North Warwickshire and Bedworth MP, Craig Tracey, local election candidates and supporters. During his visit, Boris popped into a number of local shops to meet with staff and customers - whether it was the hairdresser, the baker, the card shop, the tailor or the decorator, all were genuinely pleased to see Boris. Conservative candidates described the visit as a huge boost to their campaign. Polling takes place next Thursday 2nd May 2019.
