Member of Parliament for North Warwickshire and Bedworth Craig Tracey has met with the Minister for Roads to promote the case for infrastructure improvements to the A5 road in our community.
Craig explained:
“I discussed with Minister Jesse Norman the Government funding to improve and upgrade the A5 in North Warwickshire. It is not good enough that eastbound traffic during peak times between Dordon and Atherstone has an average speed of just 20mph in mornings and 30 mph in the evenings on such a critical stretch of road.
“I also raised several issues in Grendon which the local Parish Council highlighted as senior representatives from Highways England were also present at the meeting.
“Furthermore I re-iterated concerns about Mancetter Island, which needs urgent attention. There is a huge opportunity here to solve the problems of one of the most crucial road networks in our region.
“The Minister took the time to understand the long overdue works needed both now and in the future to ensure this stretch of road is able to continue to serve our area ”
Warwickshire County Council are bidding for funding from the Government to invest in infrastructure improvements to the A5 – something that Craig Tracey MP is working with them to achieve.
The A5 is a significant corridor for the regional economy and is a strategic logistical route. There are a number of large businesses based in close proximity to the A5 in North Warwickshire including Maritime, TNT/FEDEX, Aldi, OCADO and UPS.
