I am very saddened that with the announced closure of Lloyds Bank, Coleshill high street will be without a bank.
This will obviously impact on local residents. I want to provide some information for bank customers to the alternative facilities that are available.
The Post Office, in Coleshill High Street, provides banking services for Lloyds, HSBC and Barclays banking customers and more.
Of course there are also online banking options with all banks.
In regards to Lloyds I highlighted concerns directly to them about the closure and in their response they stated:
“Our personal and business customers can withdraw money or check their balance, as well as pay cash and cheques into their account, at any Post Office branch. The nearest Post Office is a short distance away, at One Stop, 128A High Street, Coleshill and we are talking to customers about the service they offer.”
Regarding using the post office, Lloyds Banking website also states:
“Paying in cash and cheques
Paying in cash
- You will require a pre – printed paying in slip to pay cash in at the Post Office®. As paying in slips are personalised, you must present your own slip with your cash
- Paying in slips can be obtained by contacting us in a Lloyds branch or over the telephone
- You can pay in both notes and coins at Post Office®
- Different types of outlets have differing maximum deposit limits – you should check the limit at the Post Office® you intend to use
- When you use a Post Office® branch to pay cash into a current account funds will take at least one additional day to credit your account
Paying in cheques
- Paying in cheques will require a specific cheque envelope and be accompanied by a pre – printed paying in slip
- Envelopes can be obtained from Lloyds branches or from Post Offices®
- Cheques presented at Post Office® branches will take at least one additional day to credit your account
- Cheques will be processed under the existing cheque clearing cycle
If you're paying in cash and cheques at the same time, separate paying in slips will be required for each element along with a cheque deposit envelope for the cheques.
Important information
Every Post Office® has a cut-off time for paying in cash and cheques. The information above will apply if you pay them in before that time. If you deposit after the cut-off time an additional processing day will apply. Please check the cut-off time with the Post Office® you wish to use Coin denominations below £1 – only full coin bags will be accepted per the amounts specified on the bags. £1 and £2 coins will still be accepted in partial bags as long as the denominations are separate. Only £250 of coins will be accepted per transaction.
Balance Enquiries and Withdrawals
You are able to check your balance and withdraw cash using a current Debit Card & pin number at Post Office® counters.
- Balance enquiries and withdrawals and require a current Debit Card and PIN number. You can withdraw up to your ATM limit and these withdrawals are free
- Balance enquiries and withdrawals are instant”
These closures are not welcome, it is always saddening to see any high street closures. The way people are banking is changing with most services now available and being used online and a decrease of in branch custom.
Unfortunately we have seen another closure but ultimately this is a decision for the bank to take.
